Liz’s Therapy Approach

Therapeutic and Personal Orientation

Liz employs an Integrative model of practice in her work with clients. Integrative Therapy is a progressive form of psychotherapy that combines different therapeutic tools and approaches that are tailored to fit the needs of the client(s). By combining elements drawn from different schools of theory and research, therapy becomes a more flexible and inclusive approach to treatment than more traditional, singular forms of Psychotherapy. Her work is informed by:

  • Psychodynamic Theory
  • Cognitive Behaviour Theory
  • Transactional Analysis Theory
  • Emotionally Focussed Theory
  • Humanistic Theory
  • Family Systems Theory

Her Therapy Style

As a therapist, Liz is well known in the Winnipeg Social Services and Mental Health Community. Her reputation is as a woman who holds deep compassion for the suffering of others. She is highly focused on listening to a client’s narrative and responding gently and without judgement. Her work is person-centred. Each client is seen as holding unique strengths that may be utilized to guide decisions and progress. Together, Liz and her client formulate a plan based on what the client identifies as goals to be
achieved.
